In Romans Paul’s goal is to bring people to an “obedience of faith.” In chapt. 6 he points out that we no longer are slaves to sin because of Christ’s death and resurrection. However, Paul himself still struggled against sin, doing “that which he didn’t want to do.” But Paul didn’t end on a down note. Instead, he encourages us to realize that God has a purpose in our present struggle against sin
