When I was a child we went panning for gold. I thought it would be cool to find a nugget worth a few hundred dollars. I didn’t find a nugget. I might have found a few specks of gold dust. But at the end of the day I had pretty rocks to fill my pockets. I wonder how many of us Western Christians invest significant time each day, but only have pockets full of gravel when we go to sleep.
