Hebrews 11 says that “without faith it is impossible to please God.” However, we as humans often want to earn our way to God by our good deeds, our rituals, or our law-keeping. Paul knocks the struts out from under these approaches. If you want a genuine relationship with God, you must come to Him on the basis of faith solely in the work of Christ on the cross, where He died to pay for your sin.
