In his Gospel John tells us that his purpose is to bring people to believe in Christ and so that in believing they might have eternal life (20:30-31). In our text this week Jesus interacts with various people. Some believe in him. However, even though they believe, there appears to be unbelief at some level. Belief must be examined lest one harbors unyieldedness that is not unto eternal life.
